Forum: texts Subject: no "Read Online" after upload image and PDF at the same time

I've uploaded the PDF of a book. I also uploaded the cover image in jpeg at the same time. The result entry has no "Read Online" link.

http://archive.org/details/WatchToKnow

Normally I add the jpeg after the system create the entry and there will be the "Read Online" link. But for this one, the system seem to be unable to recognize the PDF as the main source of the text. So nothing was generated.

how can I fix the problem?

Thanks,
Samphan.

You have deleted the *_scandata.xml file which is necessary for the ‘Read Online’ option.

Files used by the bookreader:

* bookid_abbyy.gz – contains OCR data XML format, used by full-text search
* bookid_jp2.zip – contains processed JPEG2000 images, these are scaled and displayed by the bookreader
* bookid_meta.xml – contains bibliographic metadata about the book
* bookid_scandata.xml – contains image size and page number information

By the way, you should mention the author’s name in the Roman script too. (in Description.) It would be useful to mention the translated title (“Watch to Know”) too.

You are uploading the books to world’s greatest library -- and breaking it, by not allowing the books to be searched or indexed by the author’s name.

Thanks for your help. So I'm able to fix it now. I'll also add the author English name to every items as you suggest.

You are welcome.

If you wish to add the author’s name in Roman in the ‘Author’ field, use the form at the bottom of the http://archive.org/editxml/IDENTIFIER page. In the first blank put ‘creator’, in the second the name. The Author field will then have two entries: the name in Thai, and the name in Roman.
